Now I know life gets busy, as we grow older it seems with every passing year we end up with more responsibilities, more parts of life that require our attention. I've got too many bills to pay, I'm too busy at work, sound familiar? For some crazy reason we all start to sacrifice more and more of our time to our responsibilities, and I'm here to tell you now that its ludacris. Now I'm not saying there isn't going to come a time when we all have to make sacrifices and put our wants aside, but we should never resign ourselves to never getting back to our passions. You have to make your passions a priority, stop making lame excuses as to why you can't or you don't have time, you have to pick it up again! Chase after it again, make it a priority and you will find that you do have the time, because you make the time.
Our passions are what makes life worth living, what makes us who we are, a piece of how we identify as human beings. They recenter us, they bring us back to happy days, they put us in situations to live our lives to the fullest. For example, I have been riding dirt bikes since I was 7 years old. I road consistently until I was 17 years old and then I hung it up, decided that a Harley was more up my alley at the time. So from 18 until 24 years old I didn't own or ride a dirt bike. About three weeks ago I decided it was time, I needed to get another bike and get back to the type of riding that I love. From the moment I unloaded that bike from out of the back of my truck I knew I was home. Kicking it over, hearing the long lost familiar sound of the tail pipe, twisting the throttle and banging around corners. Every motion came back, every feeling overwhelmed me, my whole world stopped and I was only focused on riding. After I threw it up on the stand I stood back, endorphins racing, arms pumping, and just like that everything in the world was right, nothing could bother me, nothing could take the smile off my face.
Whatever your passion is, you need to get out and chase it again. Get back on your own personal "dirt bike" and let it take you away, let it realign you. Stop making the excuses you've been making and make it a priority, make yourself a priority. Because you deserve to take some time for yourself and fully enjoy the passions you've been putting off for too long now. I encourage everyone reading this, whatever your passions may be, revisit them, recapture them, and rediscover how amazing they made you feel.
